Unlike conventional lighting systems adapted from general photography, GEMFORGE was developed from the ground up to meet the optical and visual requirements of gemstones:

Optical Lighting Architecture
1) Three independent concentric LED rings with dual color temperature:
  •  5600K (daylight)
  •  3000K (warm light)
2) Allows precise and scientifically accurate video demonstrations of gemstone color change.
3) Integrated UV LED spotlight (370 nm) with dedicated on/off control, enabling professional video documentation of gemstone fluorescence.
Render-Accurate Light & Shadow Balance
  • The LED illumination system has been specifically engineered to visually replicate the exact light-to-shadow ratio used in GemCut Studio renders.
  • The Head Shadow percentage can be set to 10% or 20%, matching standard GemCut Studio rendering presets.
  • Photos and videos captured using GEMFORGE will appear identical to GemCut Studio renders, ensuring:
             correct symmetry perception
             balanced brilliance
             controlled contrast

Light Control & Modulation

Smartphone Compatibility with GEMFORGE™

GEMFORGE™ is designed to work according to correct photographic principles:
proper working distance, controlled light development, and real diffusion space.
To achieve professional results in gemstone photography, there must be enough physical distance between the camera and the stone (typically 15–20 cm) to allow light to form correctly around the gem.
The main limitation today does not come from GEMFORGE™, but from how most modern smartphones implement “macro” photography.
Many phones create macro images by automatically switching to the ultra-wide lens, because it is the only lens capable of focusing at extremely short distances (2–4 cm). This is not true macro photography from an optical perspective. It is a design shortcut that forces the subject to be placed almost against the lens.
When a phone works this way:
There is no physical space for professional lighting
Diffusion becomes impossible
Light geometry collapses
Any professional lighting system, including GEMFORGE™, cannot function correctly
For this reason, smartphones that rely on the ultra-wide lens for macro are structurally incompatible with professional gemstone lighting.
This is not a limitation of GEMFORGE™, but a consequence of how those phones are engineered.
GEMFORGE™ simply follows correct optical and lighting principles.
Phones designed around ultra-wide macro do not.
